Lake Fork Baptist Church was started January 27, 1997 as a mission of First Baptist Church, Winnsboro, Texas with Bro. David Smith as the pastor. The church was almost named "Second Chance Baptist Church" because Bro. David believed that each person who joined had been given a "second chance" to live for the Lord.
The first service consisted of eight people, who met in Alba Community Center until May 1997 and then moved to Yantis school cafeteria until November 1997. The church moved into its first building on November 9, 1997 and four months later the building was at capacity. A second auditorium was built and ready on October 17, 1999. By this time Lake Fork Baptist Church relinquished its mission status and became an autonomous Southern Baptist church on Sunday, October 10, 1998.
As God continued to be praised for all he was doing, the membership continued to grow beyond everyone's expectations. By the year 2002 the church was building yet another new auditorium. The first service was held in the new auditorium on Easter Sunday 2003.
Our church continued to grow and we ran out of class rooms. We completed a new education building in June 2008. On June 29, we dedicated the building and named it, the J. David Smith Education Building, in honor of our pastor. Bro. David retired as pastor in July 2008. On October 12, 2008, the church called Bro. Perry Crisp as pastor, and God continues to bless and grow the church family at Lake Fork.
We give God all the glory for the mighty things He continues to do at Lake Fork Baptist Church.
